The Town of Sharon announced Oct. 21 that the Board of Assessors has completed preliminary new property assessments for fiscal year 2027 as part of a required revaluation process.

The update is part of the town's Quinquennial Revaluation, conducted under state statutes and Department of Revenue regulations. The yearlong process involves a detailed review by the DOR of the town's assessing methods and the values produced through its mass appraisal system.

Residents can review the preliminary FY2027 values at the Assessors' Office, 90 S. Main St., or on the town's website. The proposed values will remain available for public disclosure through Wednesday, Oct. 28.

The town said the changes were required to meet DOR statistical standards and reflect property sales from calendar year 2025. Overall, property values in Sharon increased for FY2027.

The new assessments will form the basis for distributing the property tax burden for fiscal year 2027, which began July 1, 2026. They will first appear on third-quarter tax bills set to be issued in December.

The town emphasized that this review period is informal and does not replace the formal abatement application process, which will open in January when third-quarter bills are issued and run until Feb. 1, 2027.

Residents with questions can contact the Assessing Department at 781-784-1500, extension 1207.
