Bay Road closures set for overnight gas work Nov. 1-5

The Town of Sharon announced Oct. 26 that Eversource Energy will finish gas main installation on Bay Road during the first week of November, resulting in nightly road closures.

Work will take place from Sunday, Nov. 1, through Thursday, Nov. 5, between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. The town said the work is scheduled overnight to avoid affecting work and school commuters, but it will still require closing several roads.

Roads expected to close include Bay Road at Cobb's Corner (southbound lane), Bay Road at Chemung (northbound lane), East Street at Billings (eastbound lane), East Street at Madison Avenue, East Street at Jefferson Avenue, Jefferson Avenue at Madison Avenue, Bay Road at Howland Road, Bay Road at Lincoln Road, Howland Road at Chemung Street, and Bay Road at Lorraine Drive.

Detours will route East Street eastbound traffic to Madison Avenue, then left onto Lincoln Road and right onto Bay Road. Bay Road northbound traffic will be directed to Chemung, then left onto West Street and left onto Central Street. Bay Road southbound traffic will follow Lakewood, staying left at the intersection of Tea Street, then right onto Central Street, right onto West Street, right onto Chemung Street and left back onto Bay Road.
