Sharon Water Management Advisory Committee approves $5 quarterly increase in fixed water fee for fiscal 2027. The unanimous vote directs DPW Superintendent Eric Hooper to revise tiered usage-fee rates so 5,500 residential accounts share the overall increase proportionally, addressing Chair David Crosby's concern that higher-consumption accounts bore disproportionate burden. The fixed-fee increase generates $2.9 million; revised usage fees are projected to add $4.1 million annually.
Weston & Sampson estimated the new Water Treatment Plant's operating and maintenance costs at $900,000 for FY 2027, a first-pass figure to be reviewed with Water Department Supervisor Rob Terpstra before final budget submission. Formal approval expected by end of March, implementation April 1.
