Sharon boards tackle insurance crisis and budget gaps at joint meeting. The Select Board, School Committee, and Finance Committee heard that the town's current carrier is cancelling coverage of its $1.9 million annual insurance expense; Town Administrator Frederic Turkington said two replacement carriers remain interested but final pricing is pending. The boards approved moving approximately $394,000 in recurring technology purchases (Chromebooks, iPads, staff devices) from capital funding to the School Department's operating budget.

State aid may increase by roughly $300,000 if the legislature's compromise budget passes, but solar lease revenue—budgeted at $500,000—faces delays after the developer lost its equity investor. All three boards then voted unanimously to enter executive session on collective bargaining with the Sharon Teachers Association.
