South Walpole Street To Close Overnight For MassDOT Bridge Work

SHARON — South Walpole Street will close overnight this weekend as MassDOT continues bridge work at the Route 95 underpass, the town announced this week. The closure comes as the Sharon Recreation Department wrapped up lifeguard staffing at Lake Massapoag's Community Center Beach and the Health Department launched a new survey seeking resident input on community health priorities.

South Walpole Street will be closed from 10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, until 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at the Route 95 underpass as part of a MassDOT bridge project, according to the town's News & Announcements page. Drivers who use that route overnight should plan for a detour.

The Sharon Recreation Department also confirmed that staffing and lifeguard coverage at Community Center Beach on Lake Massapoag ended after Friday, Aug. 14, closing out the guarded portion of the summer swim season.

Separately, the Sharon Health Department is inviting residents to complete a community needs assessment survey aimed at better understanding local health concerns, experiences and priorities.
