Sharon Select Board reorganizes; Shapiro takes chair as Baskin steps down

Select Board · Meeting of May 26, 2026

Sharon Select Board reorganizes with Xander Shapiro unanimously elected Chair. Kiana Baskin, departing after two and a half years to expand her work with the Massachusetts Municipal Association, chaired the reorganization vote that also installed Hanna Switlekowski as Vice Chair and Pasqualino Pannone as Clerk. The board tabled its decision on the Library Reuse Committee's recommendation for a non-exclusive due diligence period with residential developer Richard DeRosas, choosing to postpone pending further community input after residents raised concerns about public engagement and questioned whether an RFP should be reopened to other participants.

Information Technology Director Richard Boucher reported $30,000 in annual cost savings through vendor audits and a $250,000 municipal fiber optic grant.
