Sharon Schedules Marketplace Parking Lot Paving for Week of July 19

SHARON — Crews will close the Sharon Marketplace parking lot for repaving beginning July 19, the town said this week, while the Sharon Police Department opened signups for its Junior Police Academy and joined the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office in planning an Aug. 1 safety event.

The parking lot at 700 South Main St., home to the Sharon Marketplace shopping center, will be milled and repaved starting Sunday, July 19, and running through Thursday, July 23, weather permitting, according to the town. Shoppers and business patrons should expect reduced or altered parking during the five-day project.

The Sharon Police Department is accepting applications for its 18th annual Junior Police Academy, scheduled for Aug. 3-8. The weeklong program introduces young residents to police work and department operations.

Separately, the Norfolk County Sheriff's Office and the Sharon Police Department will host the annual Summer Safety Fest on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Crescent Ridge in Sharon, offering families safety demonstrations and activities.

Parking at the Sharon Public Library is limited while crews install solar panels on the library roof, the library said. Patrons planning to visit 1 School St. should anticipate reduced on-site parking until the installation wraps up.
