Sharon diversity panel defers minutes, advances event planning. The Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee, with eight members present, postponed approval of prior meeting minutes to February and heard updates on International Night, Black History Month programming, and student concerns over school activity-fee equity. Committee Chair Jen Illuzzi introduced a $395 Juneteenth cosponsor budget proposal to be voted on in February.
Kim Hokanson reported that tier-one club fees of $150 are discouraging student participation; Illuzzi said she would raise the equity issue with School Committee liaison Avi Shemtov. The committee also discussed a potential "Speak Out" community forum with the Sharon Pluralism Network.
