Sharon Select Board approves 4-5 percent quarterly water rate hikes effective April 1. Select Board Member Hanna Switlekowski voted against the increase, citing cost-of-living and fairness concerns, while Town Administrator Frederic E. Turkington, Jr. and Superintendent of Public Works Eric Hooper explained the rates fund new water treatment plant construction; town consumption averages 50 gallons per person per day, below the 65-gallon threshold.
The board unanimously approved weights and measures fee increases--the first since 2016--deferred a beach fee decision, and unanimously voted to insert articles for the May 4, 2026 Annual Town Meeting, including a measure to extend pay benefits to military personnel during active duty or deployment. The board also unanimously approved Southeastern Regional Services Group DPW Services Contracts totaling $1,861,586.56 for March 1, 2026 through February 28, 2027.
