Municipal Solar Oversight Committee approves prior minutes, hears solar project update before Zoom disruption

Energy Advisory Committee and Municipal Solar Advisory Committee · Meeting of August 10, 2026

SHARON — The Municipal Solar Oversight Committee approved July minutes and heard DSD Solar Development report progress on the Mountain Street Landfill solar project. Chair George Aronson, joined by members Robert Maidman, Christopher Pimentel, and Arnold Wallenstein, voted four to zero on the prior meeting's minutes. DSD Solar representative Derrik Filippo reported that a project buyer is identified but not yet disclosed, with signing possible within days and mechanical completion achievable in 100 to 120 days after work restarts pending MassDEP approval of the transformer and battery pad.

The project's participation in the SMART incentive program, approved February 23, 2023 at $0.20270 per kilowatt-hour with a 12-month reservation period, faces an uncertain status as wholesale prices and REC rates have fallen significantly. The meeting was cut short at approximately 4:55 p.m. when an unauthorized Zoom host disrupted the session.
