SHARON — Lake Massapoag Advisory Committee approves $9,400 in spending for outreach and water quality work. Chair Laura Henze Russell and her committee unanimously backed 200 additional "Love Our Lake" signs with QR codes at $886 to $900, a $3,000 TRC on-call services contract for watershed consulting, and a $5,500 BioDrawversity contract for a mussel survey mandated by the state Natural Heritage and Endangered Species Program. The committee also discussed low lake levels driven by drought, planned dock-based water testing at local beaches starting in early June, and E. coli source tracking using DNA speciation methods rather than the more costly caffeine testing option.
