Lake Massapoag Advisory Committee approves MVP grant with review safeguard

Lake Massapoag Advisory Committee · Meeting of February 25, 2026

SHARON — Lake Massapoag Advisory Committee votes to approve MVP grant proposal with contingency for committee review of material changes. Chair Laura Henze Russell presented a draft watershed-based plan targeting phosphorus, E. coli, and invasive weeds through five key projects over five years--including stormwater improvements at Memorial Beach, projects on Lake Avenue, Capen Hill Road, and Massapoag Avenue, and educational signage. The 4-1 vote included approval of $4,000 in reimbursement for Russell's software subscriptions.

The committee identified a $3.1 billion state climate bond as a potential phosphorus-reduction funding source and plans a "Wake Up the Lake" community event to boost resident engagement in restoration efforts.
