Finance Committee · Meeting of May 18, 2026

Sharon Finance Committee reorganizes under new Chair. Donald Brichta was unanimously elected Chair, replacing Ira Miller, while Anja Bernier and Ira Miller were reelected Vice Chairs in the May 18 meeting. The Committee postponed the Clerk election and appointed representatives to five inter-town committees, including Brichta and Miller to Priorities, Bernier and Phillip King to Capital Outlay, and Sharon Duret to Audit.

A review of third-quarter Town and School expenses identified shortfalls in Police, Fire, DPW, street lighting, Norfolk Agricultural School tuition, Veterans services, and unemployment compensation. Members discussed potential cost savings in contracted special education transportation and agreed to coordinate with the Select Board and School Committee on the issue. Trust funds invested in January had grown from approximately $743,000 to $760,000, a gain of roughly $16,000.
