SHARON — Finance Committee votes to exclude school items from capital outlay recommendation. Chair Ira Miller and members voted 11-0 to approve the overall capital outlay article while withholding recommendation for Chromebook replacement ($262,752), iPad replacement ($66,729), and Special Education vans ($96,800), citing insufficient school-department responses to committee questions on device inventory accountability, special education transportation costs, and equipment useful life. Anja Bernier's companion motion, also approved 11-0, requests the schools provide additional information by March 11.
The committee also heard from Detective Lucie of the Sharon Police Department on a proposed ban on cryptocurrency kiosks, with 50-plus fraud cases investigated locally in the past year.
