Finance Committee defers rodenticide ban, approves four warrant articles

Finance Committee · Meeting of March 23, 2026

SHARON — Finance Committee endorses four routine warrant articles unanimously. The committee voted 11–0 to recommend Articles 1, 2, 4, and 6 (routine reports, school-fund appointments, property-tax exemptions, and revolving-fund authorizations), as well as Article 3 (non-union compensation plan, 10–0 with one abstention) and Article 7 (acceptance of state law on billing interest, 11–0). The panel also approved Article 21 (Priorities Committee bylaw amendment, 10–0) and Article 18 (ADU zoning revision, 10–0).

However, the committee deferred action on a citizen petition to ban second-generation rodenticides until the Department of Public Works supplies cost-per-visit, annual visit count, and total expenditure data; declined to recommend a proposed easement at 20 Tracey Lane due to lack of property-owner notification and undefined Town compensation; postponed final action on the FY2027 budget pending School Department clarification on kindergarten enrollment and fee-collection practices; and accepted withdrawal of a boat-parking ban petition, which will instead be addressed through traffic-regulation modifications.
