Economic Development Committee reorganizes; Waxman named Chair, Seidenberg Vice Chair

SHARON — Economic Development Committee appoints new leadership after Chair resignation. The committee voted 4-0-1 to elect Hy Waxman as Chair and Shana Seidenberg as Vice Chair, replacing former Chair Greg Monahan. Members discussed the Shop Sharon survey and Small Business Saturday initiatives, identifying landlord underinvestment and geographic business disconnection as key obstacles; the committee agreed to narrow its goals to two reachable objectives for March.
Rob Maidman, Planning Board Chair, reported that the Sunrise Sharon project failed to win Planning Board site plan approval, leaving the developer with four options including seeking another site or petitioning Town Meeting. The committee's next meeting is scheduled for March 2, 2026.
