SHARON — The Sharon Substance Prevention and Resource Coalition postponed its June 13 "Remembering Our Friends" event due to incomplete family coordination, planning instead a winter lake memorial with bonfire and lighting ceremony. The coalition, meeting with six members present on May 21, discussed a May mental health event led by Wes Woodson that drew 13 attendees, including four who came via targeted advertising. Staff member Carly Malvesti reported eighth graders at Sharon Middle School completed civics projects on mental health and anti-bullying, with the coalition agreeing to invite interested students to serve as youth advisors; the September meeting shifts to 4:00 PM to comply with state guidelines for student attendance.
The coalition confirmed staffing for Safety Fest, a health fair, and Pride Festival, and discussed placing 988 suicide prevention stickers on student laptops and potentially on staff lanyards.
